PickYourself UK Small Business Entrepreneur of the Year entries

Self-Starter Stories: From severe trauma to becoming a relationship transformation expert.

This week's #selfstarterstory features Lyn Smith from HEARTS Entwined, a world-class service that is based upon providing individuals with step-by-step coaching and training solutions to help create the Ultimate intimate and committed relationship.

Lyn says through her teens she experienced several sexually traumatic events that no girl or woman should ever have to go through;

"I was raped at the age of 15 years by a man who was someone I trusted at my local swimming club, I was a virgin and naïve enough to think that he offered me a lift home out of kindness!

That lift cost me the rest of my childhood, a potential competitive swimming career, my education, some good friendships as well as my femininity & dignity.  It left me feeling violated, ashamed and dirty!  So, I didn’t tell a soul (until I was 42!)."

#PickYourselfUK caught up with Lyn to hear more about her entrepreneurial journey.

How to make one hell of a profit and still get to heaven.

How to make a hell of a profit and still go to heaven by John DeMartini - because it's an easy read and really changed my mind-set around money.

I do my best to out source as much of the back end stuff as possible

What is your productivity secret?:

Stick to your strengths (mine lay in designing, delivering and presenting the front end coaching programmes and courses) and out source the rest.

How did you get your first traffic to your website?:

Via a Facebook campaign offering a FREE report for people to opt into

What would you say to someone who is toying with the idea to start a business but haven't yet?:

Think about making sure you have a cushion of financial stability (via a bank loan, savings and/or part time work) for a period of time during the early months, so that you come from a place of 'inspiration' there is nothing more off putting to potential prospects than a person exuding 'desperation'

If you could have dinner with one entrepreneur, who would it be and why?:

Sir Richard Branson because of his fun sense of adventure and relaxed nature

How do you market your business?:

Through Facebook and press campaigns - plus via recommendations and referrals

When you first launched, how did you get your first paying customers?:

I wrote a Kindle on-line e-book. Click here for more info.
