Rebecca Lockwood | Empowering women to be their best selves
This week’s #selfstarterstory features Rebecca Lockwood, Founder of The Female Entrepreneur’s Network.
Pick Yourself UK caught up with Rebecca to learn more about her entrepreneurial journey…
What was your last job?: My previous business was called Recoco Woman and had huge growth plans. I was on the biggest growth accelerator in the world and won various business awards. The business was all about empowering women to be confident. Before that and along side I worked in sales, training, managing and coaching sales teams. My experience of this lead me to where I am now doing mindset coaching and supporting women to be the best version of themselves.
When did you choose to PICK YOURSELF instead of waiting to be chosen by someone else?: I realised that it is my choice to show up as the best version of myself and no one else can do that for me. I had some really hard times in my past and every day I ask myself "What can I do today to support who I was then?" in the hope that someone who feels stuck or lost in their life will find some inspiration and support in my work.
What was the most challenging part of starting a business?: Showing up and being visible. Really talking my truth and sharing my story with the world. The biggest worry being that people who knew me in my darkest days would assume I was still that same person.
What is your favourite business book and why?: Mine! Because I know how much the content in it has changed my life! The females handbook: Step into your personal potential.
Do you do everything yourself? What do you outsource?: I outsource most of my admin, finance and a lot of the tech.
What is your favourite marketing tool ?: Recur Post is EPIC!!! The thing I LOVE about it is that you can create banks of content and set them to auto post and when the content runs out it goes back to the beginning!
How do you market your business?: I use Recur post to schedule all of my content. I do a lot of PR and I build an online community online to support other women to step into their potential.
When you first launched, how did you get your first paying customers?: I just put out there that I was looking for women to support with mindset and the feelings of not feeling good enough or not very confident. I had over 50 women content me and I supported them in the best way I could - through mindset coaching using NLP and Coaching. From there I began growing an online community which now reaches over 20 thousand women.
How did you get your first traffic to your website?: Posting onto social media and utilising facebook groups has been a game changer in my business.
Nominate one person/friend who believed in you from the start, and what would you like to say to them today?:My husband Neil Lockwood. Thank you for always being by my side.
What would you say to someone who is toying with the idea to start a business but haven't yet?: Just do it! Ask yourself, what if I don't do it?
If you could have dinner with one entrepreneur, who would it be and why?: Tony Robbins. I'm sure I will be having dinner with Tony in the next few years. Tony's work has brought NLP into my awareness and lead me on the path I am on. Life changing is the best way to describe it. To thank him and to learn and grow as a person would be amazing!
