Today's #selfstarterstory features Jennifer Barnfield, Founder of The PEPP™ Method.

Jennifer is a Positivity and Visualisation Practitioner and Founder of The PEPP™ Method.

The PEPP™ Method shows people how to be positive in everything, feel empowered, powerful in their self-belief and how to support others, leading to them creating a productive life.

PickYourselfUK caught up with Jennifer to find out more about her entrepreneurial journey.

What was your last job?:

I was a professional figure skating coach of 12 years with 32 years experience on the ice, and also a personal trainer.

When did you choose to PICK YOURSELF instead of waiting to be chosen by someone else?:

I chose PICK YOURSELF because it shows incredible support of SME and also a great way to raise ones business and profile. This has also pushed me out of my comfort zone in having to promote myself, rather then have a PR company to work on my behalf.

What was the most challenging part of starting a business?:

The most challenging part of starting my business was the confidence I had myself with what have created and being worried if it would be taken seriously, not another woo woo idea.

I had such a desire to work with education and corporate personal development and well-being that I was overwhelming myself! Not knowing which business step to take first was hard too.

Questions like: should I have a website already, should I collate contacts first, would I be better knowing what brand colours if use? These were all questions that almost floored me at the start, yet now I take them in my stride, head-on.

What is your favourite business book and why?:

My favourite business book is Attitude is Everything by Jeff Keller. Why? Because it totally resonates with me and my beliefs.

I found it amusing in places and totally summed up the life changing possibilities with the right attitude. It’s a great, easy read with a killer message!

Do you do everything yourself? What do you outsource?: At present I do everything myself, I am looking to out source in time but not yet. I love where I’m at and being able to adjust everything as and when needed.

What is your favourite marketing tool ?:

Canva is by far my favourite marketing tool. It allows me total freedom of creation to design, at ease, the most beautiful graphics for my social media and website platforms.

How do you market your business?:

The way I market my business is through word of mouth, sponsorship, social media, corporate contact vial email and telephone calls.

When you first launched, how did you get your first paying customers?:

In order to attract my first paying customers, I contacted those I knew personally, met with them and went from there. I then asked for personal referrals which create trust and a warmer contact than going in cold and not knowing anyone or who’s best to speak to.

How did you get your first traffic to your website?:

My first website traffic was through sharing my weblink on Facebook and asking for support. I feel to blessed for such a supportive network

Nominate one person/friend who believed in you from the start, and what would you like to say to them today?:

Marc, my husband. He has been an absolute rock during the creation of The PEPP Method. Throughout the ups and downs there has never been a point where he’s lost belief in me.

I feel so blessed to have him in my life and feel so supported. I couldn’t have created this without knowing someone has held my hand and kept me laughing!

What would you say to someone who is toying with the idea to start a business but haven't yet?:

You are not alone with that idea! If you don’t start it, someone else will.

It’s about biting the bullet and completely going for it. Never look back or compare because it’s your journey.
Where comparison begins, contentment ends.

If you could have dinner with one entrepreneur, who would it be and why?:

Louise Hay, if she was still here. I’m so inspired by her work and the foundations of positivity she has created. Having had such a turbulent life growing up, to then be empower so so many people globally, really does ignite a spark inside of me.

The passion she had to succeed in her happiness is awesome and inspiring on levels I could t even begin to explain.

Such a wonderful woman.
